By the end of 2015, almost all habitable structures in the village of Pinhook had been demolished as part of a buyout and potential relocation process.
In 2018, 9 new houses were built by Mennonite Disaster Services — 7 in Sikeston and 2 in communities close by — for Pinhook residents who had kept up their fight for more than 7 years. Homes will never be rebuilt at the original Pinhook site.
However, a new 20′ by 60′ picnic shelter was constructed at the Pinhook site by Mennonite Disaster Services in time for Pinhook Day, May 2018. Pinhookians will use it for gatherings and celebrations.
